
Benefits of Participation
Each year, GreenKids schools receive:
- Environmental education lessons, delivered by GreenKids educators, that support and enhance the state curriculum standards
- Green school teacher training session for the entire staff
- Support for energy reduction and recycling programs
- $500 in lead teacher stipends
- $500 field trip subsidy
- $500 school project fund for infrastructure projects such as habitat gardens
- Assistance in attracting community partners to support environmental activities
- Guidance in applying for Maryland Green School Certification from the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education or applying to become a Virginia Naturally School
- Support and resources as a member of the GreenKids Network upon completion of the two-year program
Who can participate in GreenKids?
- All Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) elementary, middle and high schools are eligible to apply
- All Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) elementary, middle and high schools are eligible to apply
