Board Committees
The Board Committees are the primary vehicle for board members
and other ANS members to be involved in planning and providing
oversight to the organization’s programs and management.
The President appoints the members and Chair of the Board
Committees annually. The committee members include both Board
members and other ANS members who have indicated an interest in
serving on a particular committee. ANS Board members are
expected to serve on at least one Board committee The President
also serves on every committee in an ex-officio voting capacity.
In addition key ANS staff members are assigned to work with and
support the Board committees.
Board Committees are usually responsible for reviewing issues
and making recommendations before the issues are brought to the
Board’s attention. Thus, the board relies on the effectiveness
of the committees to operate efficiently
Typically, committees meet four to six times per year, or they
may meet more often, as needed.

between regular Board meetings.

program, which includes assisting with identifying, cultivating, and
soliciting gift solicitations, major donors, corporate and
foundation donors and other private funds to ensure the Society has
sufficient funds to pursue its mission. The Committee is attentive
to the Society’s mission, programs and public profile and an
understanding of its resource needs.
Communications Committee
– provides guidance and oversight for communications to members,
supporters, targeted groups and the public in general, including
printed and digital publications, the website, promotions, outreach
and appeals. The committee provides guidance to promote a cohesive
communications effort

Rust Sanctuary. It provides coordination between the Board and the
Rust Advisory Council.
