This site, one of the first sites monitored by ANS, is upstream of Muncaster Mill Road, in Rock Creek Stream Valley Park in Derwood, Maryland. It is also in Montgomery County's Upper Rock Creek Planning Area. Rock Creek at this point is a third order stream, meaning smaller tributaries flow into it. Streamside cover includes trees, shrubs, and grasses. Downstream of this site is the Intercounty Connector and Lake Needwood.
